For years I've seen the cute little "you can use cooking to teach math" articles in homeschool magazines, and thought "there's gotta be more...". Honestly, I always let it go at that... But I recently stumbled upon a lady who absolutely lights the kitchen on fire combining education and cooking!
I was reading an issue of Kiwi Magazine and came across Cricket Azima. Ever heard of her? Neither did I. Take a look at the video below...
She works with the New York City school system, but I'd love to get a buzz going about her in "homeschool world" as well! If you visit her website, she also offers lesson plans for sale.
Her book, Everybody Eats Lunch, is bound to get you going on moving beyond the "cooking as math" formula, and if you or your kids are interested in doing a little more schooling around the kitchen or food (who wouldn't?!)I would recommend it no matter what age level they are at.
