Sites and Bites...or

Virtual Field Trips

I've been on alot of field trips as a homeschooler, but have you ever heard of a virtual field trip? Meet Me At the Corner lets you take trips all over, and lets you upload trips to share with others! How cool is that? This would be a great activity to do as part of a State or community Unit Study, or as part of a video or filmmaking study. (Next month I'll show you a cool product that teaches filmmaking using LEGO's!) Our family has a field trip planned for later this spring at a local Living History village, and I'm planning to do a short video while we're there to send in! What's something interesting nearby that you could share with other homeschoolers?

Hey, good lookin' - whatcha got cookin'?

While I was doing some research on creative ideas for your homeschool, I came across Cricket Azima. She's conducting a cooking contest this month, based on her book "Everybody Eats Lunch", which you can order here. Also read about the cooking contest Kiwi magazine is sponsoring. Simply video your child creating an original recipe using Florida Crystals Organic and Natural Sugars, or take a picture of the finished product and send it in. Take a look at one of Cricket's videos on "cross-curriculum cooking" first, to get motivated!!

What's YOUR favorite book!

This last site is lots of fun! Do you remember what your favorite book was when you were growing up - and why? Does your child have a favorite that they read over and over again? Why not tell the world? Best Children's Books has a really unique page where you or your child (or your husband or grandma...) can share something about your favorite book growing up. Try it here, and feel free to take a look at my page while you're at it!!

Pat's Book-of-the-Month...

Oh, I love to read (not that I get that much time to do it anymore...) Starting next month, check here for "The Last Word", my version of "The Book-of-the-Month-Club"! Got a book you want to share? Go ahead and let me know about it, and you may see it in a future issue!
